Clean Air Action Corporation

Corporate Profile

Clean Air Action Corporation (CAAC) is a climate change mitigation and adaptation company. Founded in 1993, CAAC is an industry expert on the design and implementation of voluntary and compliance emissions reduction programs. Because of its early and extensive involvement in all elements of the evolution and adoption of market-based emissions trading systems, the Company has built a reputation as a private sector expert in the design and development of greenhouse gas reduction strategies.

CAAC has been extensively engaged in the global greenhouse gas business, developing effective models for international carbon sequestration efforts. In 1999, CAAC founded The International Small Group and Tree Planting Program (TIST). TIST is implemented by CAAC in partnership with the Institute for Environmental Innovation (I4EI) in four countries: Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and India. More than 100,000 farmers plant trees and take other conservation measures on private and public lands. Today they have over 20 million live trees that protect against erosion, preserve biodiversity, reverse the devastating effects of climate change and restore degraded land. Through TIST, CAAC has developed an award winning sustainable development program.

Local Farmers Make it all Possible

The real credit for the outstanding results of this program belongs to the local subsistence farmers who collect indigenous seeds, make nurseries, plant seedlings, and keep them alive through droughts, floods, cattle and goat raids and rogue elephants. TIST farmers are proud of the benefits their trees are having on their lives and on the global environment.
